WKN sells French wind project to John Laing

WKN AG, a leading developer of wind energy farms based in Husum, Germany, sold the French wind project Sommette-Eaucourt to John Laing Group plc (“John Laing”) at the beginning of September.

The wind farm will be built in Picardie, Northern France. Construction is expected to be completed at the end of 2017. Total installed capacity for the Sommette wind farm will be 21.6 megawatts. The wind farm will consist of 9 Nordex N117 turbines each with a capacity of 2.4 megawatts. WKN will be responsible for the construction of the project, and will also be commissioned as EPC contractor by John Laing.

WKN AG, which is part of the PNE WIND Group, again demonstrates its decades of experience in the construction of turnkey wind farms. “One of our major competencies surely is the contracting of huge and international infrastructural projects”, explains Roland Stanze, COO of WKN AG. “Thus, we are looking forward to realizing the first project related to our framework agreement concluded with John Laing beginning of this year.”

Ross McArthur, Managing Director Renewable Energy at John Laing: “We are pleased to have developed an excellent working relationship with WKN and following on from the signing of a three project Framework Agreement earlier this year to have closed the first project together”
